There is only one appropriate response to this book. And that is...DAMN IT WHY DID I START READING THIS BEFORE THE SERIES WAS FINISHED!!!!Now I have to wait, I can't wait five minutes let alone a couple of months. But honestly I love the castle and as painfully obvious as I found the villain (all he needed was flashing arrows saying WARNING VILLAIN APPROACHING) I loved the story. There wasn't as much of the us vs them feel of the first book (and I loved the first book by the way) but we got some back history which I always enjoy, so that more than made up for it. I read this to my girls (5 and 7). We absolutely adored the first book, Tuesdays in the Castle. This one started out exciting, but then lost us for a bit. We ended up moving on to start the Narnia series, but I dragged them back because I hate unfinished books. The middle was very slow. If I was reading it to myself, I would not have minded, but my children struggled to stay in the story. The end of the story was fantastic! It finally starts to get interesting in the final quarter of the story. Then it ends on a cliff hanger. We start to discover more about the history of the castle and that is fascinating. Then something totally exciting happens and right in the middle, the story ends.I have to say, the kids can't wait for the next one. I think Thursday in the Castle is going to be AMAZING and I can't wait to read it. Thankfully it comes out in a couple of months so the kids won't loose the excitement. This book, was necessary to move the story along I guess. I wouldn't recommend skipping it, since you will miss some important history, but I think this book could have been condensed and offered as the first few chapters of a book and proceeded with the Thursday in the Tower story. It was slow for kids.
What do You think about Wednesdays In The Tower (2013)?
Hell, how I LOVED this book!!!! Cannot wait till Sept 2nd for the next one!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I like this one better than the first. Still a charming plot and family.
