All I can say after reading this book is , I HAVE NEVER BEEN more JEALOUS of a female heroine book character in my LIFE!!!! The Countess /heroine in this book is actually a well written protagonist BUT , I don't think she came close to deserving the DIVINE VICAR Adam Sylvaine. I devour every single Pennyroyal Green series by Julie Anne Long but so far (next to the Duke :), Adam is my most swoon worthy hero of the bunch. (The Duke in What I Did for a Duke is more heart wrenching and emotionally dark/ tortured and HE is amay-ZA-zing.....Adam makes you want to do naughty things and tie him to your bed for decades whereas with the Duke you want to let HIM tie YOU to the bed) Anyways Adam is the Vicar for PennyRoyal Green and the Countess has moved there to escape her past and start over fresh , she was considered a bit of a slut back in the city and wants to be just normal and free of all the city life and her past. When Adam and the Countess meet sparks instantly fly but Adam takes his role as vicar very seriously and tries every which way to fight his attraction for her. When she finally is able to seduce him, it's only of the HOTTEST sex scenes EVER!!! I would re-read this book just to get to that scene. Overall to me Adam makes this book so good, and while you do WANT the countess and Adam to get together, deep down you'll think you don't . It's hard to describe but I almost wanted a sweeter and less worldly heroine for Adam. The countess was very sultry, experienced, and jaded and it just made me scoff a little thinking Adam deserved someone a little more down to earth. I give this book 5 stars because of Adam, the Divine Lord Lisle ( whom I secretly wanted the countess to end up with), and the great sex scenes. If I had to give a rating based on writing and storyline it would be a four , and I would give the Countess a rating of 2.5....if you read this ahead of time maybe it's good knowing not to be that impressed with the heroine but not disliking her either. Read this book though! You won't be disappointed :) .....then After , read What I did for a Duke , best book in this entire series!!!! Evie Duggan is the worst of all things -- a courtesan. Originally a dirt poor Irish peasant girl, then an actress, then a kept woman and finally, a Countess -- by way of a marriage decided by a winning hand at cards -- and finally a widow. Evie and her loyal maid Henny leave the excitement of London to live in quiet Pennyroyal Green, because it is the only property her late husband has left her. Dubbed the "black widow" by the ton because her husband died so soon after their marriage, she is the object of scandal and cut by every "nice" woman she meets. The town's Vicar; Adam Sylvaine, by virtue of his position must be cordial and welcoming to all and his friendship and their eventual love affair lead the townspeople to see that Evie is not the scarlet woman they have made her out to be.This is an enjoyable book -- Long does a good job fleshing out Evie's character and that of the local townspeople as well. The book is not filled with passionate love scenes but the few choice ones are steamy without being overly explicit.I will be looking for more books by Julie Anne Long.
What do You think about Wyznania Hrabiny (2014)?
If you haven't picked up the pennyroyal green series yet, you are definitely missing out.

Brilliant installment in this series. Even the sappy happy ending went okay.

This one too. Nice to have the vicar fall for the pretty face.

Solid read, my only complaint is it went too fast.
