I read it in one bedtime into late night binge like eating a whole bag of chips or box of chocolates - couldn't stop - thx dear sister for sending - a readable memoir by a youngish person is not that easy a thing to pull off - by a troubled and sometimes troubling woman even twice as hard to make readable or sympathetic - but somehow this story of self discovery by a person who spends a lot of time seeing / knowing/ writing others manages all that and a bit more . This was a difficult read for me, in that, for the most part, I felt like a helpless observer in the author's personal struggle with depression, mania and self-hurt. I picked up this read because I thought that the storyline, which as far as synopses go, might be along the lines of Dr. Jill Bolte Taylor's book, 'My Stroke Of Insight' (which I have not yet read at the time of this review). This book is raw, brutally honest and permits the reader a glimpse of the dark abyss of clinical depression, and how every mental and emotional hurdle overcome, no matter how small, is victory indeed.
What do You think about Your Voice In My Head (2011)?
Loved the unique writing style but felt it was too superficial, more content and depth were needed.

Simultaneously hilarious and deeply disturbing.
