43 Old Cemetery Road: Dying To Meet You (2010) - Plot & Excerpts
Cute, cute, cute! These are the kinds of children's books I love - ones that lure little minds in with pretty pictures and then capture them inside a charming (if a bit morbid - not unlike this sentence) story. I can tell that this is from the Lemony Snicket family, but the Klise sisters definitely have their own style of entertainment going on, and I'm delighted at the prospect of reading the rest of this series. This book is wonderful when presenting a unique story that is different from other books I have ever exposed my students to! I love to use this book with my Guided Reading students because of the unique way in which it is written. Sisters Kate and M. Sarah Klise are masters at their craft in that they write a story told through newspaper clippings, letters, photographs, memos, etc. and they tell this story very well! The names in the story crack me up and as you read and learn more about characters like Seymour Hope, Ignatius B. Grumply, Anita Sale, and many others! It is easy to see the connections between the characters and as you learn their fascinating story, you will learn to love them as well as their many quirks and outrageous adventures! Great story!! Quick read. My students (5th Graders) always devour this book and beg for more of the series!!
