A Blink Of The Screen: Collected Short Fiction (2012) - Plot & Excerpts
I love Sir Terry Pratchett's works, he is great. This collection of short stories has some from the Discworld series, but a majority were just other stories not related to it, and both were great. My favourite one is with Death as the main character, "Death and What Comes Next," which also has one of the best slams ever, "ASTONISHING", said Death. REALLY ASTONISHING. LET ME PUT FORWARD ANOTHER SUGGESTION: THAT YOU ARE NOTHING MORE THAN A LUCKY SPECIES OF APE THAT IS TRYING TO UNDERSTAND THE COMPLEXITIES OF CREATION VIA A LANGUAGE THAT EVOLVED IN ORDER TO TELL ONE ANOTHER WHERE THE RIPE FRUIT WAS." Not really impressed with this book, to be honest. As a collection of stuff Sir Terry found lying around his loft, the individual pieces ranged from moderate to excellent. This feels, however, like a throwtogether book of odds and ends for his publisher to squeeze a little bit more money out of his fanbase which is exactly what it is.If you've read the Discworld series and his other titles (The Long Earth comes to mind), it helps to get a better understanding of most of his stories patchworked into here, but as a standalone book, I'd recommend you steer clear.Sorry, Sir Terry.

I loved this collection and the explanations from Terry as to how they came to be.
