Gently prying her arms from around his neck, he maneuvered her into a position where he could see her face then wiped away her tears. Maddy’s big blue eyes met his, searching for what he didn’t know, but there was such a depth of sadness in them it nearly broke his heart in two just to look at her. “What is it?
