A Texas Sky (2000) - Plot & Excerpts

4 stars! For me, this one SORTA had what the previous one lacked: a major issue that the hero and heroine had to overcome. Although I gotta say, I wasn't sure the hero was gonna figure things out... but once he put his mind to it (quite late in the game), it was like badda-bing badda-boom... game over. But when I say it SORTA had it, when I say "a major issue the hero and heroine have to overcome," I usually mean something that is keeping them from being together, you know? Issues with their past, family objections, something that happens after they fall in love that very nearly breaks them up, but doesn't (because love conquers all, etc.) This one... well, they had something they had to overcome, but they didn't even think of each other in that way yet... and it was more of a crap-I-was-supposed-to-perform-this-duty-and-feel-really-bad-that-I-failed type of thing... which was lovely and all, but.... Yeah.It was cute though! I really like Dakota. He seemed so... rough... in the last book, which was in stark contrast to his nicer, softer personality in this book (which I'm sure was intentional now that he had come to Christ and all). And Darvi was fun. And, as flawed as they were, I really liked the side characters as well—especially Cassie and Annabelle. :)The library doesn't have the last book in the trilogy, so I requested it through interlibrary loan.... We'll see if it gets here before the fall challenge is over. I'm guessing they won't have to send very far for it, as it's a historical Texas Christian romance novel. I'm guessing it will be found within a 100 mile radius... :)

I may have been able to finish the book... but Lori decided that part of the Apostles Paul's teachings were not worthy of following. She seems to pick and chose which verses she wants her readers to apply and ignores the rest of the Bible. Even ignoring the Apostle's words at.(2 Timothy 3:16)"All Scripture is inspired of God and beneficial for teaching, for reproving, for setting things straight, for disciplining in righteousness."If she wants to teach others to apply the Bible then she cannot ignore the parts she does not want or have her characters to apply. I get so tired of reading all you have to do is accept Jesus, but never reading to follow Jesus footsteps. Which Jesus commanded and the apostles commanded in the books they wrote for the Bible. How about what we see those Jehovah's Witnesses do? That is a command in many places, even by the Apostle Paul. But Ms. Wick ignores that command. (Acts 20:20) "While I did not hold back from telling YOU any of the things that were profitable nor from teaching YOU publicly and from house to house." So not even in the 8th chapter did I have to quit reading the book. I will defend the Bible and God. and if it means not reading books, bought or borrowed, then so be it. I will rate and let other readers know the truth of the Bible, vs. the way authors try to twist it to suit thier writing style.

What do You think about A Texas Sky (2000)?

Rating: 8/10I love that I get to read about a character that I was keen to know more about from reading the first book in this series. Dakota is scary looking but really is a big teddy bear - from the beginning he is much more loveable than his brother, Cash. It starts with a relaxed pace with no sparks to be seen anywhere then suddenly kidnapping and a hostage situation adds a intriguing plot line. Very slow romantic build up and then suddenly they like each other and it isn't all lovely and wonderful but just how it is. I guess that sometimes that does happen but I did miss the chase and romance that was in the previous book. But I liked the addition of the kidnapping so it wasn't just about their relationship. I guess you can't have everything. The Questions:Entertaining?: YesAddictive?: Not as addictive as 'Every Little Thing About You' but still easy to get intoImpacting?: NoThought provoking?: Not reallyClean?: YesRead it again?: YesWould I Recommend it: Yes
