Another great short story in the I am Number Four series. I really love the short stories almost better than the actual novels. They are well paced and add so much to the stories. With some short stories, they are don't really advance the story. They are often just a different perspective. These short stories are definitely from different perspectives, but they also converge with the novel. You really need to read these stories to get the full appreciation of the novels. even though i love this series and keep coming back for more, i really hate the bad guys. it seems like things are always going their way. you kinda have a feeling that when this series ends that the loric will overcome. but you can't help but think it's impossible because there are a handful of teenage lorics with big egos and no leader/cepan to guide them (since pittacus decided to kill every last one of them off) will win against thousands upon thousands of mogs (apparently you can reproduce these things like an assembly line). it's a shame that 5 is so blinded by his past on an island with a sick cepan that he can't see past his selfishness and think that the loric are good. he is immature and continues to feel sorry for himself. he can't see that the mogs are manipulating his misfortunes to make it seem that the other loric never intended on trying to find him. he thinks that nine is the most powerful one since they were numerically ranked by their strengths. it's annoying to see him fall into the trap of setrakus ra over and over again to the point he kills his only friend ethan. that was such a low for me because the guy truly cared for him and 5 thinks that he needs to kill him to gain pwer, to be setrakus ra's right hand man. really? what's he going to do with all his power? rule over mogs? he won't have a species left that could be his potential mate. what kind of life is that with no friends, family, peeps....you can see he has a soft side and a potential for good but he keeps talking himself out of it. i keep hoping in the future books he will come around and side with the loric. it's a shame they killed off 8... he had some cool powers.
mostly hates five, but i pity him... i am still hoping that he will redeem himself
