Bad Boy (2002) - Plot & Excerpts

Another Veeta's recommendation and I looooved it! I know it's kinda cheesy, flat and predictable for some people. But well, it's kinda story that could be happened in our daily life. And reading this novel felt like watching those Hollywood's romantic comedy movies. Ngerasain deh perasaan sedihnya Tracie, for turning him into bad boy. When they finally made love, berasanya simpel dan natural, malah nggak diekspos sama sekali. Oh, aku sukaaaaaa banget. Endingnya sederhana dan maniiiiis... Love it!

This is unquestionably "chick lit", which I do like from time to time, but this fell totally flat for me. I didn't like either of the main characters, and found the plot concept silly at best. The writer's limited attempts at evoke sympathy totally failed; I found myself more disgusted by her characters than interested. I absolutley couldn't stand Tracie ever, at any point in the book, and didn't care for Jon much as the book progressed. Several people seem to change drastically at one point or another (excpect the obligatory, all-knowing best friend), but none of them in very believable ways. Very predictable ending which was very rapidly drawn to a conclusion, which may have been a blessing. I will admit that Goldsmith makes some accurate general statements about what women are attracted to. Why is it that we so often chase after those who treat us so poorly? I suppose, therefore, in this bit of fluff and nonsense, there is a statement to be read. I just wasn't thrilled with the way it was presented. Definitely not one of my favorite reads.

What do You think about Bad Boy (2002)?

My expectations were way too high for this book, it let me down in more ways than one. Staring with the ridiculous title, are they suppose to be any bad boys in this book? Maybe I glanced over the characters cause the book was extremely boring and trite. It is one of those books that I regret that I believed the hype surrounding it. I don't have a clue what this was about, no character made a lick of sense to me. One part it was about a strained relationship, but who were the characters? Opps I forgot the moment I flipped the page. It was laughable to see the rules of what makes a bad boy.I read several books with similar content but this was one was pathetic.Another book that bites the dust...NEXT!

After reading 'book club books', this book seemed really silly. I felt it had no substance and not much character development. It was hard to feel anything for the main character, Tracie, when even the waitress at the restaurant called her an idiot and she was dating Phil solely for his looks. And really? This smart, nice-looking guy, Jon, waited for her for seven years and commented that he even loved her earlobes? Not all that practical. At least they could have made Tracie succeed at writing or Jon fail at Micro Con but the book didn't even do that. Overall, skip the bad boy and go for a better read.
