Barrett continues the predictable sibling rivalry plot line in this second book of the series. Although it may be perceived as cute or realistic to some readers, the sarcastic tone of the dialogue wore thin by the middle of the book. Most of the elements and events, which were continuations of what was introduced in the first book, had minimal development in this title. What kept me from not finishing it was the desire to see who would surface as the real murderer. Again, it's a faint hope that an author will continue to develop the characters in a series as subsequent titles are introduced. Sadly, many succumb to the temptation to fall back on the formula and plug in the parts even if they might not fit very well. I'm willing to give Barrett the benefit of the doubt, with several more books in the series. Hope she doesn't disappoint me. "Bookmarked for Death" is the second in the "A Booktown Mystery" series by Lorna Barrett. I really enjoy this writer's style, her ability to weave all sorts of characters through her bookstore, "Haven't Got a Clue." It's best to read the first book, "Murder is Binding," and then read "Bookmarked" as characters continue and history between characters becomes part of the clues of the current mystery. A very enjoyable read and a great summer read. Can't wait to read the next in the series!
