Averaging a 3.96 rating when no one even has an advance copy is completely ridiculous. I will never understand why people want to mislead others like this. This is one reason why consumer ratings are so untrustworthy as to be ignored completely, unless you have knowledge of the reviewer in particular.Shelving it and putting in the review area that you're looking forward to it is one thing. Rating it as if it's been read is quite another.I do not believe it's beneficial to an author to claim "really liking" or finding "amazing" a book one has not read. And it certainly shows no regard for other readers. Personally I consider it a form of lying.And reviewers who will lie certainly cannot expect others to take their reviews seriously.If/when this book is published it will not be obvious to the casual customer that these ratings are not due to a reader who has actually read the book. They will falsely skew the ratings. This is a fine example of why simply looking at the average rating of a book cannot be trusted as any gauge of what readers thought of the book. It renders the overall star rating completely and utterly worthless. I really don't like hearing people write negative reviews for a book that hasn't even come out yet. Pardon my french but, who gives a fuck if you think Cassandra Clare is milking it? I'm going to keep reading the books because I'm a fan of them and I like her writing. So why do you feel the need to criticize her? Even if she really is milking it, that's her choice and it makes her rich and the fans happy, so really what is the problem with that? You're just being a dick to be a dick wait for the damn book to come out and actually fucking read it before you start talking shit.
