It took me a while to get back into this universe. I read the three previous books a while ago and I had forgotten many things, so I was quite lost on the first chapters I read. Eventually I managed to get back into the universe, which made the story more enjoyable. I remembered how I liked this particular shifter mythology and the characters were enjoyable. It was a nice read, even if I struggled a bit getting back in the swing of things. I think this is the first time I've missed those recap paragraphs every new book in a series has to remind the read of important events. They would have been useful. Sometimes there's just nothing better than some comfort food and revisiting an old favourite. It's been nearly 2 years since I read the first 3 books in this series and Crucible of Fate was a wonderful reunion with the characters in these stories. I find the writing in these books just flows like a gentle steam there's just a calming peaceful flow to everything. It's comfort food and the need for the familiar whatever it is Mary Calmes puts it onto the page and my mind and my heart soak it up and I always sigh contentedly when the story has been absorbed. I really needed this I was feeling a little frayed around the edges and my brain needed to slow down focus and just enjoy.
Awesomeness personified! Review to follow.
