Okay, I decided to give the second book a chance and I'm happy to say that I liked it a lot more than the first book.while the first book seemed repetitive and lacking in climax, this second book's plot was a lot more developed and there was more attention paid to the details and settings.I felt that there was more thought on the part of the author in terms of character and plot development. The writing style also helped. However, once again when it got to the fight in the pit again, I felt that somehow something was lacking and I couldn't put my thumb down on what it was. It was like the author was suddenly rushing to get it over and done with. SummaryIf you enjoyed book one in the series, Change of Heart, then you'll enjoy this next installment in the series. Trusted Bond is Book 2 in the Change of Heart Series and is not recommended as a stand alone read. There are too many characters and details from the first book, Change of Heart, with which readers need to be familiar for Trusted Bond to make sense. Jin Rayne is a werepanther mated to tribe leader Logan Church, and is having trouble shaking his go it alone ways. Now that the excitement and newness of his bond to Logan has worn off, Jin is questioning the long term viability of their relationship. Right as all these issues come to a head, Jin gets kidnapped threatening his mate bond, his sanity and even his life. Trusted Bond by Mary Calmes is well worth the $5-7 for which most booksellers offer the ebook version. Fantasy WorldTrusted Bond has even more details of the werepanther world which is descended from ancient Egyptian society. It takes a little work to keep all the tribe roles, characters, and laws straight, but it's worth the effort. Some suspension of disbelief is necessary for Jin's amazing luck in escaping his kidnappers, and developing new talents.Tingle FactorThis is a male/male romance with full physical details. Jin and Logan spend more time apart in this book due to the kidnapping, but when they do get together - FIRE. RomanceTrusted Bond spends more time with the heart and relationship development than Change of Heart did. The slight shift in focus is a good addition to the series and helps the characters grow.DramaKidnappings, challenges, and violent battles continue. Especially the kidnappings. Jin is the center of many powerful werepanthers' interest and they all want to keep him for their own benefit. Hero #1Jin Rayne trusts no one and keeps his secrets to himself. It's hard to tell sometimes if this is more helpful or hurtful or just a bad habit of his. Regardless Jin is a tough kitty with a knack for survival. He develops some new talents which leave him a bit confused as to who he really is, but he does manage to clarify the longings of his heart. As with book one, Jin is an upbeat character who is fun to read even when he's being held hostage.Hero #2Logan Church takes a back seat in Trusted Bond and is mostly off the page. The very dominant tribe leader is rescued by his diminutive lover, and Logan also has to adjust to Jin's new talents. Fortunately Logan is not completely emasculated, and what little there is of him is enjoyable to read.
What do You think about Cœur Confiant (2014)?
Slightly disappointed, but only because I wanted to read Domin and Koren's story...

Jin is pretty likable and I liked that this book wasn't totally predictable.

No more Mary Calmes for me. No major reason, we just don't fit well.
