Dans La Peau De Meryl Streep (2012) - Plot & Excerpts
This isn't a mystery story but it is cozy. Cozy romance? Cozy friendship and sisters novel? I don't know how to categorize it but it was a wonderful read. You can't help but jump right into Mia March's books because she draws you in with the first pages - in this case giving a description of the car accident that killed the husband, sister and brother-in-law of the Lolly, the owner of a bed and breakfast in small-town Maine. It's more the story of the next generation after this car crash occurs but they are all residents of the small bed and breakfast so that cozy feeling exists throughout. There are three young women wrestling with big decisions - ending a marriage, finding a lover from 10 years ago, and choosing a path in life - and they are all united by Lolly's cancer diagnosis. The book hovers on the edge of becoming too sweet or too sad but never falls in. The characters and setting are welcoming and the story is satisfying. It's a good read that will let you reflect on big life decisions while cheering for Isabel, June and Kat as they make their own. I love a good story about women coming together, building friendships and relationships and discovering who they really are. This book did not disappoint. I picked it up on a whim in the library because I thought the title was intriguing and I am so glad I did. I hope there is a sequel b/c I feel like there is more the stories of Kat,June, and Isabel. I look forward to reading more from Ms.March, sequel or not.
