První díl na novou ságu od epického spisovatele Darrena Shana, který mimo jiné knihy napsal i jeho vlastní příěh jménem Sága Darrena Shana. V této sáze vypráví příběh upířího mentora Lartena Hroozleyhi, který e známý jako stvořitel Darrena Shana. Spisovatel opět nezklamal a přesvědčil mě, že stále umí psát ty nejlepší knihy. Jeho díla jsou děsivá, ale i vtipná zároveň! Larten thinks that he is better than his master Seba Nile. Evidence of this from the text is when Larten is getting over a hangover with Wester and when Seba tells them that they need to go train to test their skills, Larten says, "To hell with your tests!" (246) This shows that Larten now thinks that he is better than his master Seba because earlier in his training, Larten would have never talked so disrespectfully to Seba.
