I think that this book was a surprising book. It was an irony to me that Larten wanted to learn and follow Seba, his master and follow the ways of the vampire's life, joining the Cirque Du Freak and also meeting new friends. However, that was in the first book. In this second book, I was looking foward that Larten would become a vampire prince. However, the vampire clan was unraveling to Larten and Larten feels that he is just wasting his time to be a vampire. What the author really kept me reading was that Larten decided to not give up on his life and himself and started to learn from Seba again and his friend Wester. Together, they meet new people, and they set sail for adventure towards the end of the story, which Larten meets a girl named Malora which helped and kept Larten safe in the adventure. Larten Crepsley was blooded. He turned into a full vampire. After a lot of adventure with Seba and Wester his only close friends, he thought that the life of an vampire is short, and began his own journey. Larten seeks to become stronger and one day be able to find what he's looking for. Wester and Larten parts as Wester seeks to become a general and Larten on the other hand, is looking foward to his path of living as an vampire.
