Larten and Wester have always interested me. They are vampires yet they act, and surround themselves with humans. They even act so human they sometimes don't even realize that they are vampires. Evidence of this is when Larten is telling a story of when he accidentally woke up a person while feeding from them, he says, "I was drunk. I forgot about my vampiric [powers]." (60) This proves that Larten and Wester are so in tact with human nature that they don't even recognize who they are or, what they are. This book is about a young teen vampire named Larten Crepsly that is part of a clan called the cubs and they are it the strongest or the best vampires. They and their general friend Vancha had been receiving missions like to hunt down the vampire Arrow that has married a human that was not blooded and not an vampire. So they had to see what arrow was up to. In the beginning of the book Larten and the cubs were spectating a war and they were feasting in the night on the dead bodies. And when vancha came by he came along on several missions and learned what it was like to have jobs as a vampire general. I think that the book was really interesting because you could visualize how it was like to be Larten and how they lived life. Also I can think about how it was like to live for so many thousands of years and feed of of blood. He also had a choice to join the cirque du freak and perform his knife trick or he could stay with the cubs. In the middle of the book the cubs were challenged and one of their members wanted to step up to the vamp see but Larten reminded him that he couldn't get a revenge on who killed his family.
