El Perro Enamorado De Las Estrellas (2008) - Plot & Excerpts
ok, see this book with a happy puppy on the cover, surrounded by sunflowers and bright blue skies? SADDEST FUCKING STORY EVER. For reals. This book should be the poster book for the phrase "never judge a book by its cover." Why do I keep falling for this? How many books am I going to pick up because they have happy, cute animals on them only to be immersed in sadness? I'm going to make a resolution to never fall for this again! Great Graphic Novels Top Ten 2013This book tells the story of a man who loses everything because he fails to pay attention to the important things around him. He journeys south with the ever faithful family dog. When the dog needs a kidney operation, the man pawns his belongings and begins to realize that he has found happiness. He finally cares about someone or something other than himself. They eventually run out of gas and money and end up in a field, living off scraps from a camp site. The man dies in the car, but the dog continues to stay by his side, waiting for him to wake up, until he passes away a year later. The social worker assigned to the case is reminded of his own childhood dog and the poor treatment he showed it until realizing how much he needed the dog. He called his dog a stargazer, "an expression for a person who hopes for too much." This comment on the human reality applies to the man, his family, and the social worked until he realizes how good his life really is.
What do You think about El Perro Enamorado De Las Estrellas (2008)?
Creepy little story. My 11-year old son picked it up and was bawling by the end, poor thing.
