Ghost In The Polka Dot Bikini (2011) - Plot & Excerpts
This second entry in the "Ghost of Granny Apples" paranormal mystery series was great fun to read. I enjoyed the characters (especially Granny Apples, amateur sleuth Emma's ghostly great-great-great-grandmother, who is picking up some modern slang from watching TV and has become a fan of the San Diego Chargers), the puzzling, well-plotted mystery, and the local Catalina Island setting. Like the first book in the series, this was a light, entertaining read, and I'm looking forward to going on to the third and fourth. This is the middle story of the Granny Apples series. Emma Whitecastle is now divorced from her husband and has a weekly talk show about the paranormal. While visiting Catalina to research the stories of ghosts there, Emma meets the ghost of Tessa North (the Ghost in the Bikini) who was murdered in 1968 and is waiting for Curtis to return before crossing over. Emma discovers that Tess's life and death are intertwined with the life of her former father-in-law. Secrets from 40 years ago are being brought to light and both the living and the dead are upset.

It's not great literature, just a cozy mystery and perfect quick reading for this time of year.

Cute story. Didn't enjoy it as much as the first book in the series, but it's a fun read.
