Aunt Tabitha wins a contest that her and 3 others will get to see the bats in Transylvania. Araminta and Wanda hope they are one of the three, but alas the parents are going. Araminta is disappointed not only because her birthday is during this trip, but she loves bats and the Wizzard parents don't. Great-aunt Emilene is scheduled to babysit, but because of a disasterous hair appointment, Araminta's cousin, Mathilda shoes up. Nurse Watkins babysits for one day because Great-aunt did not show up.
