It's Pig Day! Piggie wants to celebrate, but Gerald is afraid he can't since he's an elephant. But the pigs celebrating with Piggie turn out to be not entirely the kind of pigs Gerald thought, and it may even be possible for him to join them. One more Elephant & Piggie book closer to my quest to read them all. My favorite part of each Elephant and Piggie book is the facial expressions, and the surprise ending, and this one did not disappoint. The cleverness of Willems never ceases to amaze me. Admittedly, I love Elephant and Piggie, as do our Kindergartens. They beg me to read books from this series, but this one is my favourite! It's a tale of belonging. You could do an exploration of what belonging is. To be honest, we could do a whole day around this book! Pig crafts, gymnasts in pink suits, selections of pig books fiction & non to read, bring in a pot belly pig from one our local farms or teachers, pig noses for everyone, make & eat pigs in blankets, signs about being inclusive! I could go on & on! I can't wait until I get to say Oinky Oink Oink over the announcements for the whole school to hear. That means Happy Pig Day in pig.
What do You think about Happy Pig Day! (2011)?
Clever, easy to follow along and includes an unexpected twist - a perfect Elephant and Piggie combo.

A funny story involving Elephant and Piggie. It's Pig Day and Piggie and friends are celebrating.
