Fun, quick read! If I could give this half stars I would have rated it 3.5 stars because it wasn't bad it was just...what I expected. I've read reviews of Gemma's and one of the biggest complaints I often see is about her character's food choices. Yes, food choices! What a silly thing to get picky over, right? That's what I thought to myself before I started reading but after completing the book I do get it. Tina seemed have a diet only a ten year old who has spent their life being sheltered from fast food would crave. Nobody (by their own choice) wants to eat that much fast food. Ever. And of course Tina could still fit in a bikini after all that. PSSSSSSSSSSH! Here's a hint: If you want to make a likable character, don't make her that girl that every other girl hates.Beyond her food habits, Tina was pretty annoying. She seemed to have the attitude and personal style of every girl in my 8th grade class waaaaaaay back in 2003. You know, that whole "purple-hair-don't-care" type of attitude where someone pretends that they are really unique and gets ultra sensitive when people hurt their feelings even though they are super sassy/rude to nearly everyone they speak to. I've heard that the next two books in the series are written from the perspective of other characters so I am interested to see what others think of her. I never really got a clear sense of how old Tina actually was. Late twenties?! Mid thirties?! I have no clue. It probably doesn't even matter.I enjoyed the mystery aspect of the story for the most part. I was a little disappointed with the outcome because I felt like the author was trying too hard to make it unpredictable. Oh well. I never really hold high expectations for this type of book. I usually hate the romantic plot in these types of books as well but for some reason, even though I was pretty sure I knew what was going to happen, I still wanted it to happen. It was like the one thing I really just needed to be right about and it kept me reading.I'll definitely read the next one! I would give this book 4 stars, but so much cussing. I really hate the language. F-bombs and other words are really unnessecary. I enjoyed trhe characters. Loved the story line. I love how witty the author is. I cracked up several times while reading this, but I can't recommend it because of the language. From the book: Tina Bender is the gossip columnist at the infamous L.A. Informer tabloid. She knows everything about everyone who's anyone. And she's not afraid to print it. That is, until she receives a threatening note, promising, "If you don't stop writing about me, you're dead." Teaming with a built bodyguard, a bubbly blonde, and an alcoholic obituary writer, Tina sets out to uncover just which juicy piece of Hollywood gossip is worth killing over.
