This was a smooth easy read. I loved the two aunts aka - the gruesome twosome. I had trouble believing that a 20-something journalist would really carry a Strawberry Shortcake purse. The purple streaks I could see. I've worked in several places with co-workers that would put streaks in their hair just for something different or in support of a grandson's wrestling team. I liked the twist with ManinBlack72 also. This romance/mystery was amusing. I wouldn't want to have paid a lot of money for it, but it was free on the kindle, and worth it for that price! The heroine writes a gossip column for a tabloid, but somebody gets mad at what she writes, and threatens her life. Then there is tension between her and her bodyguard as she tries to solve the mystery. The author mentions a television show called Pippi Mississippi, an obvious jibe at a well-known show featuring a main character whose first name rhymes with her last name that is also a state!
Fun, quick read. If I could, I'd give it 3.5 stars. No deep thinking needed, perfect for the beach!

Predictable. However, the party that took place in Disneyland was great!
