There's clearly something special about all the Spiderwick books. I get so captivated by the story that once I start reading I can't stop. I know that's a really cliché thing to say, but in this case it's true. Each book in this series I've finished in less than a day. I really am stuck from the moment I open the book. The well-written story and the pictures transport me to where it all takes place. I become friends with the characters and almost fear for myself when the monsters show up.Despite them being children's books I still haven't grown too old for them. I think that if I pick them up again in the future I will still be as amazed by them as I was the first time. The feeling I get while reading Spiderwick is unlike anything I've ever felt reading other books. It's a sort of welcoming to the world of magic, a way of seeing the wonders of the world. It is the feeling that makes me believe in trolls, nymphs and giants over and over again, despite telling myself they're not real. Or are they?As the last book in the series it has that extra spice. The characters we've gotten to know so well face the worse dangers yet - giants, trolls and dragons, which grow bigger and fiercer along the way. The Grace and Vargas families have to gather their forces and stick together in order to save the town, and maybe even the whole world.The book is the end of not only one, but two series. We say goodbye to the Grace siblings for (probably) the last time. The ending doesn't quite feel like THE end though, because it stays in your thoughts and gives the reader a slightly different view of the world. It makes you think that maybe there is something out there, something magical, that's worth looking for. Ja siihen loppui Spiderwickin kronikoitten toinen "tuotantokausi". Viimeinen osa tuo tulleessaan vielä muutaman mutkan tarinaan, mutta muutenhan luvassa ei mitään suurempia yllätyksiä ollut. Nyt kun olen lukenut kaikki kahdeksan Spiderwickin kirjaa tuolle tytölleni, niin hahmottaa aika hyvin tuon tarinan kaaren. Hyvittä kevyttä fantsua lapsille... ensimmäiset kirjat toimii melko hyvin ja tämän toisen satsin alku jaksaa kantaa muutaman hyvän käänteen vuoksi, mutta kokonaisuutena tämä sarja ei kuitenkaan kummoinen ole. Olen tainnut tähdittää jokaisen kirjan kolmen tähden arvoiseksi, koska olen katsonut, että lapselle suunnatuksi tarina on sopivan jännittävä ja suoraviivainen. Mutta en minä tätä kellekään aikuiselle lähtisi suosittelemaan.

Pretty good ending of this trilogy. I won't look at sinkholes or boulders in the same way again.
