3.5An interesting idea, but a little underwhelming to me when compared with the author's other works. I think the conservation-green message was not totally heavy-handed, but neither was it light and unassuming. That means Jeffers probably struck a reasonable balance. I wanted the story to end in a more interesting way. I loved the paper airplane concept, and the forest critters were fun. Jeffers always seems to create positive stories that highlight friendship and inclusion. In the end though, this one happened to just be ok. Recommended with some reservation.
Not quite as much fun as Incredible Book-Eating Boy, but that is a pretty tough act to follow.

The illustrations in this book are signature Jeffers brilliance. I loved them. Story was OK.
