March Of Kings (2014) - Plot & Excerpts

Two stars only because I finished it. Decided to give this series a second shot, but I won't be giving it a third. It's just so bad. The characters are so one-dimensional I found myself giving them my own back stories just to keep myself amused. I "predicted" everything that would happen, but it wasn't difficult since the author tells you what will happen. The characters act like it's been months or years since the beginning of the story, when it's only been about a week. And the writing never picked up, it was so flat, and in some places contradictory. I don't understand why these are bestsellers. *some minor spoilers*King MacGill is dead by a ruthless hand. At first Thor is blamed but before he died the king was able to clear Thor of the charge. Now, as the The Kingdom of the Ring begins to spin into chaos a new King is crowned. People begin to question the choice and his innocence in the king's death. As a member of the Legion, Thor must go on a training exercise to prove that he is worthy of his position. He must survive this exercise, but, can he? Many don't come back.Meanwhile, the McClouds are considering their options as they think about overpowering the kingdom inside the ring. This was an audio book, as was the first volume I "read" in this series. I actually think I liked this one better. We begin to get a better sense of the characters and things are beginning to happen fairly quickly.

What do You think about March Of Kings (2014)?

I'm not reading anymore reviews on this series. After I wrote a fantastic review of the first book, I read the second one and loved it just as much. I plan on continuing. Everyone is saying its too "simple", "cookie cutter" etc but I personally love this series. I've read countless fantasy books and series which is my favorite genre and I think Morgan Rice nailed it. There's authors like Tolkien and Jordan who make series more complex which are great. But some that are simple are just as magical. My opinion is try it before you read all those 1 ★s. She has kept me entertained and can't turn the pages fast enough to see what happens.

I would've given it 4 stars if the romance didn't make me feel that uncomfortable.
