Nine Uses For An Ex-Boyfriend (2012) - Plot & Excerpts
I feel a migraine coming on (and I never get migraines!!!). I felt my blood pressure rising as I read more and more. At several points in the book I thought finally things were going to get better ( I couldn't have been more wrong if I tried). I'm just so freaking unbelievably angry, there are absolutely no words than can encompass or even come close to describing how indignant and furious I am, I'm practically gnashing my teeth together and trying not to throw something against the wall!!!!I hate/want to strangle/will strangle/ (still haven't done the strangling bit but trust me if these characters were alive I wouldn't be typing this review up right now! I'd be doing some STRANGLING!) the following characters: - Jack, what a total jerk. He cheats on his girlfriend of 13 years, lies about it then BLAMES her for his misdeeds. Ugh I can just hear his whiny voice in my head saying 'it's not my fault I felt the need to go to the arms of somebody else' 'you need to start forgiving me' (need! Kiss my ass! And get you stupid whiny freaking voice out of my head!) - Suzie, I don't understand you, don't care to understand you. In fact I'm pretty sure you're just some loser who steals from other people, I'm not going to waste my time further deconstructing you useless piece of rubbish - Hope's mother, *cough cough* you are so not a mother. In fact I would give you the award for the world's worst mother in the world (you want a closer relationship with your daughter? First tip don't blame her boyfriend's adulterous tendencies on her! Christ you must be one hell of a stupid lady!) - Hope, you silly girl; can you stop blaming yourself for something you did not do!!! I can't stand it. I'm so angryyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyAnd my rant can continue on for hours but I need some time to destress which is so not going to happen if I keep on thinking about these STUPID people I didn't appreciate all the to-ing and fro-ing. Stay together or break up, fuck how long you've been together, he's cheating on you, and not with some randomer BUT YOUR BEST FRIEND.because of this, a lot of the time Hope was slightly irritating, but thankfully towards the end all I wanted to do was find a blunt object and repeatedly smash it into Jacks' head.My first ever Sarra Manning book was Guitar Girl when I was 13 and i absolutely loved it but now i think i might have to reread it to see if it's as amazing as I thought.Honestly if the last 10% of the book hadn't happened (excluding the happy ending for Jack)I would have felt like this was a complete waste of my time.Onto the next Sarra Manning, with a library so small, i might as well read all her work.
