Kiss And Make Up (2006) - Plot & Excerpts

This is the second book of the story of Edie and Dylan. It picks up with the end of the first book. Edie and Dylan just got together, they like each other a lot but they also don't know much how to stay good in the relationship, they end up hurting each other and split soon. It has a lot to do with their immaturity and a bad timing with the school break. When Edie returns, Dylan is with another girl. Most of the book they are apart, yet they can't get really apart, we see they like each other very much indeed. Dylan's new girl is a bitch and Edie also gets involved with her brother, who also isn't nice. I like suffering of two lovers but I think this book had it a little too much. Because we don't understand how they cannot be together. Dylan's relationship is used as the reason, but in the end, when we get to know about his girlfriend, we don't get how he could put up with her. He didn't even need to get back together with Edie, we see the reasons why they're afraid to be together (I mean, are they going to not hurt each other again? etc) but Veronique is such a bitch! We see them (Edie and Dylan) getting together behind Veronique's back, then Dylan retreats, then they get back together (for, you know, they can't stay apart), then Edie retreats because of Veronique, which Dylan also supports. And we get thinking, he's having a great relationship with Veronique, she's so nice, he doesn't want to hurt her feelings, but at the end we discover (spoilers!) that he doesn't want her to throw a fit? because she's bad like that? If you are so attracted to other person that you kiss her many times despite you are with someone, you should breaks with her. It was also aggravating that Edie allowed it quite some times. I think I could relate with it happening 1 or 2 times but so many? I want her to be stronger, cheating is not nice and it says a lot about her self-steem. Other thing I didn't like was Carter, Veronique's brother. He's obnoxious with Edie, yet she can't cut him loose, she almost loose her virginity with him despite it is so clear she's not into him. And he does a lot of other awful stuff and she's ok with it. Nevertheless, the book has a great pace, just like the first one, and is addicted. We still relate with Edie and Dylan and just want them to be together soon.

It’s sizzling summertime, and Edie can’t wait for the partying to start. Trying to forget about the dastardly Dylan, Edie’s taking her new squeeze Carter to the Glastonbury music festival to have some fun. But guess who’s there already, looking totally gorgeous? That’s right...__________________Packed with juicy kisses mixed with roller coaster crazy love story. So this is the second installment of Diary of a crush.Even though everything seems ok at the end of the 1st book, things don't stay that way. Edie and Dylan are having major relationship problems andthen it comes down to the point where something major happens and Dylan & Edie break up.But that is just only the beginning. Later, when she returns from a summer apart from Dylan, she finds out that everything had changed. Dylan is now dating the queen of evil Veronique, Shona gets closer to Veronique and stops hanging out w/ Edie, and Edie is trying to get through life. Even though Dylan is with someone else, he still wants Edie as a friend and Edie accepts but of course it can't be that easy! More conflict occurs.I'm not giving the whole thing away so go read it!! I have to admit that I really did like this one but it's just not as strong as the first book of Diary of a crush. It really bother me why is she always kissed by boys even she don't love him and still always find herself kissing back? Shes like "Oh, i kissed you and i liked it, i hope Dylan wont mind it." haha seriously!!So all in all its a great book. you will find yourself liking the characters as i did. but sometimes you'll find yourself get annoyed to some characters like Edie, Dylan, and Shona. they are really hard-to-read persons, for me. i think. Anyways, Im looking forward to read the third book of this (the last one). I wish i will find that in bargain store or in ebook form. Im dieing to read the ending love story of Dylan and Edie. :)5/5 stars

What do You think about Kiss And Make Up (2006)?

Oh dang, it just gotten more awful. I would've given this a one star rating if I based it on the mess of it all alone, but I can't seem to do it because as horrible as the writing, the characters and plot is, you can't really deny the chemistry between Edie and Dylan. It was literally the only thing because if this was any other book with the same level of dreadful nonsense, I'll probably chuck it to the nearest fire cult pit I'll find that kept me reading this . It was that powerful.< It's actually bordering on creepy compulsion, but who am I to surely know? I'm the one on the receiving side of it. LOL

Actual review rating: 3.5 stars. The second book in the Diary of a Crush trilogy is another fast paced book filled with lots of Edie drama. In this instalment we follow Edie as she realises life with Dylan isn't as great as first thought. She breaks it off with him and escapes Manchester to live with her grandparents for the summer. We then find out what happens when she returns...I loved this book alot, I felt Edie was a more relatable character because she wasn't immature and obsessed with Dylan anymore. The storyline felt real and it wasn't a overdone love story. I really fell for Dylan and Edie's relationship and felt sorry for them.I didn't like any of the new characters that were introduced if I'm honest, Carter was an ass and his sister was even worse. I wish we got to know Poppy more because I felt she was a big part of the story but I didn't know much about her. The writing wasn't good at all and again I wish this wasn't in diary extracts. The festival was a pretty awesome part of the book and I loved the ending so much. Dylan really is the cutest.

Not really a 5-star book, but it gave me 5-star feelings. There's the type of drama that is a complete pain in the ass. However, this kind of love hexagon as vacillating and twisted as it is? Oh gosh. So delicious. It's crazy. But it works. Sometimes it does get out of control, but overall, it's generally fun. I think there's a beauty in making realistic characters do unbelievably ridiculous thingsI love Edie. I really do. She's just such a real and down-to-earth character. And her sarcasm! It just never stops. She's a nutter, that's for sure, but terribly honest so you can't help but adore her....all I could do was bitch about how I was going to stink of bacon fat...Sometimes it frightens me how much I enjoy behaving like a complete cow. It's this brutal honesty that makes it okay for the maniacal things that happen in this book to happen. Sure, it's a mess, but Edie acknowledges what a colossal fail she and her friends are at being a functional and social group of friends and couples. ”Dylan - I don’t even like her, let alone want to be with her, but sometimes I think we deserve each other. I try to break up with her and there are broken glasses and she threatens to hurt herself, me, her cat. It’s like being back with my mum, which is just so Freudian, I don’t even want to go there.”This statement is so Dylan. Despite his lack of self-control, I, for some strange reason really like Dylan. He's hot and loveable and the chemistry he and Edie have? It's out of this world. You can feel the sexual tension floating off from the pages. What I love is that their relationship is so edgy with minimal physicality. P.S. All the characters are so British! Being British is an automatic 10 bonus points and makes everyone seem more attractive and acceptable somehow.
