This was another excellent book. I have been able to read 11 Richard Paul Evans books this year. This was an easy read. It was exciting but not so suspenseful as the first Vey book. The description of the electronic-rat run power plant got a bit disgusting but the rest of the book had a lot of excitement and little parts which were surprising. The part where Zeus and Jack, who by the way has become a big favorite of mine, make up was touching and Evans had done well to lay the ground work for that. Given a cause, Jack's true colors come out and he becomes a real hero. When Michael was being lowered into the bowl with millions of hungry mice, the outcome was surprising and made the story interesting. Hatch is so sick and evil, it is hard to fathom anyone so bad yet he acts so proper and like he knows what he is doing. This will be the last book I read in 2014 since today is New Year's Eve. Well, this was totally epic.Seriously, the first one was okay, but Rise of the Elgen was just awesome. It kicked off brilliantly with tons of fun and action that carried all the way through to that horrible cliffhanger ending. Can't believe he did that...Anywho, for characters, I think my favorites are probably Jack and Ostin. As the story went on, I actually began to like Zeus as well. Whatwith his sacrifice, Jack rescuing him, and their ensuing bromance... I totally lost my train of thought, but it was the most beautiful thing in this series. I loved it.And I officially ship Michael and Taylor. Also, Hatch is an amazing bad guy: scary, psychotic, and purely evil. I can't wait for Michael to electrocute his butt.I wish I could give this a full 5 stars, but I had a slight issue with this that I have to point out: I didn't think the writing was very good. I mean, it wasn't terrible, but it wasn't what I would call amazing.Still, I did like it and I'll definitely read the next one ASAP.
What do You think about Rise Of The Elgen (2012)?
I liked it a lot. Liked the part where he almost gets fed to the rats and then he survives
