Michael Vey 4: Hunt For Jade Dragon (2014) - Plot & Excerpts

This book is about the electro clan who are trying to save the Jade Dragon. The Jade Dragon is a little chimes kid who knows how to fix the MEI system. The electro clan have to capture her before the elves get her to make a race of electric humans and whip out the human race. This is all taking place in Taiwan because the Jade Dragon doesn't have a family and that is where she is roaming. This is a fiction book and has a tone of action and adventure. Is you liked the first 3 books defiantly read this book it is amazing and I can't wait till the next book comes out. You should read the Don't Look Now series by Michael Gagnon if you liked this book. I really liked this book because of the author and the style with which he wrote it. As opposed to reading this book analyzing the plot, I decided to analyze primarily his writing for my own learning and benefit. However, the plot was worthy of studying as well. Background info: teens with electrical powers bestowed upon them by a dangerous MRI prototype hunt the evil corporation that is beginning to covertly take over the world through an electricity monopoly. However, one rogue from the corporation obsessed with electric powers kidnaps a Taiwanese savant with electrical engineering knowledge in order to create a superior race of electric people using a modified electric prototype. The group of teens allies with a resistance and takes the girl away from the rogue, saving the day. As mentioned earlier in the review I was looking at the writing a lot throughout the book. I realized hat the author was great at writing the buildup to the climax, or the rising action. Richard Paul Evans managed to keep me hooked for the entirety of the book throwing out situations that the group of teenagers had to deal with and exciting internal conflicts. However, while most of the book was very good with a dreading buildup to an impossible mission the actual mission, or climax, occurred over only a few pages and was completed with relative ease. All in all the book was very good, but I would have appreciated a climax that lived up to it's buildup.
