Strega Nona Does It Again (2013) - Plot & Excerpts
Tomie dePaola is quickly becoming a household favorite. He's a little lengthy for my preschoolers, however, my 5 yr old loves him. dePaola is educational and enjoyable to read. The illustrations have a unique style all their own that even I enjoy while reading. This one was another Strega Nona book, our favorite Italian witch who watches lovingly over her whole town, this time having to deal with her cousin's daughter, a high maintenance visitor. A great read for any child. Strega Nona's cousin's daughter comes to stay for an extended visit. She is of age and many a young man has come to court her. Angelina has eyes for Hugo, who is in love with himself. Upon arrival at Strega Nona's house, Angelina turns Big Anthony into her footman and Bambolona into her maid. They don't always like their tasks, but they dutifully carry them out to her every specification.I liked all of the acrylic illustrations formatted into panels reminiscent of comic books. Whole sections of the story were wordless and it was may favorite feature of this tale.Overall, not my favorite Strega Nona tale, but still worth a read. PreK-2.

Reminds me of Italy and pasta. Makes me hungry, too.
