Tall Tales And Wedding Veils (2008) - Plot & Excerpts
OMG, this was a great, lighthearted story that will keep you on your toes. You go from laughing one minute to tears the next. Heather Montgomery was a CPA who knew she did not match up to the local beauties and had accepted her fate. She was to be a bridesmaid in her cousin's wedding (even though the cousin did not really like her) and she was faced with a weekend trip to Las Vegas with all the bridesmaids and the bride. She knew she did not fit in so she tried to keep to herself until she ran into a hometown guy that she had seen at her favorite bar. Tony McCaffrey had made this trip out of desperation. After making plans on buying the neighborhood bar, one of his backers had informed him that he could not loan him $20,000.00 as his final down payment for the bar. Tony decided that there was nowhere else to turn to but Las Vegas for the money. This is where the whole story starts and it is quite an adventure. One that you will enjoy from beginning to end. I've been on a tear recently with the "wake up in Vegas married" stories, and this is one of them. I liked that the heroine is smart, not OTT gorgeous but there isn't some great scheme to have her made over, or lose weight. The hero is gorgeous, but there's more to him than meets the eye, and it's about his realization that he can be more than just a pretty face. There is some good love scenes, but the emotional relationship is the more important issue in this book, and seeing beyond each other's facades to the person underneath. It's a sweet book and it's the first book I've ever read by this author, though I doubt it will be the last.
