She went up to the Yarn Barn through the outside stairs, assiduously avoiding Jesse. Apparently the delivery had arrived in her absence and Jesse had brought it upstairs. She took from her purse the Swiss Army knife that Beau had given her for her birthday and cut away the plastic.
