What To Buy The Shadowhunter Who Has Everything (2013) - Plot & Excerpts
A short and sweet summary of a short and sweet book.I have a soft-spot for Magnus Bane. He is by far one of my favourite characters from any book ever written because he'd mischievous, quirky and ticks every box in the list of traits for a Byronic Hero.This instalment of the chronicles shows Magnus trying to fill in the role of boyfriend, something he is clueless about despite his age. I find it adorable how he stresses so much over Alec's birthday present.However, it is one of the slower paced of the books where not a lot happens in the given time. He doesn't leave the apartment and apart from a couple of phone calls (and arguments with a trapped demon in his living room), most of the book is inner dialogue. this side series truly started out in a terrible way- the authors were just shoving magnus and his homosexuality and overall sexual nature down the readers throat to the exclusion of everything else. i abhored the first few, was drawn in a bit by other characters back stories in the next few, but still missed the depth of feeling I was looking for in magnus and was hoping to see more of in his own series. well, I no longer have to wait (which is rather funny considering this is all about his relationship with his new boyfriend lol)in this quick read, magnus is doing a quick bit of black magic on the side, and multi tasks through out his task of raising the most cheerful peppy demon slimer of all time by thinking of what to get Alec for his birthday. it turns out to be more of an exercise in figuring out his true feelings for the boy, and in DTR. it was just super sweet and tender and I have to say the softy in me loved it. this book really brought me back to the feeling of falling in love- which I guess doesnt change to much for warlocks either ;-) ah malec ;-) i'm super glad we finally got a little bit of insight into how you happened, and what the draw is there
