I would have given this book five stars but again I had a problem with the main character Alex. He talks way too good for his age. Unless I misunderstand the time era Alex is from, he defintely doesn't talk like someone from this era. I love everything in this book. The trials they have to overcome, the inner turmoil, and pride are such key parts in this novel. Most writers don't even touch on these standards. I am glad Forman writes about a character so unlike what we see today. Where did manners, courtesy, and kindness to each other even go? I hope a lot more youth read this book and see that honor is worth more than gold. I AM AN IDIOT...oh ya loved the book but...I am seriously an idiot. This is going to sound stupid (yes i am aware that once in a blue moon some SLIGHT stupidity may be shown) but when they said that Val had a dark spot on his face in the beginning i thought that...(sighs) i thought that Bregnest had punched him in the face and that dark spot was a bruise.Yes i know we have already established that i am an idiot. So i spend the rest of the book being all, "Oh Bregnest is totally evil. I bet he's the bad guy. Blah blah blah." I was really surprised that it was Val who was the bad guy.Yes yes i know i AM an idiot.I'm looking at everyone's reviews and they all say how it was really obvious that Val was evil. Now i had moments when i was like, "Hmmm Val you seem pretty...i don't know...suspicious. I wonder if...naw! Its Bregnest that's the bad guy!"I am an even bigger idiot than the King of idiots...oh wait thats ME!At least i still have you guys right!? (crickets chirping)
I read this a while ago and guess I forgot to add it, but I have really enjoyed this series!
