I read this as a stand alone knowing that it followed and is essentially part of The Art of D/s Trilogy. It was fascinating to read Sawyers journey to becoming a Master. This is the first book I've read about a mans sexual awakening and self discovery that lead him into the BDSM lifestyle, with a little help, training and support from his friends. Sex is not the focus of this book and the scenes that have sex are well written, sexy and not overly explicit. A refreshing change from a genre that is mostly about a submissives growth and/or training. I would recommend you read the art of D/s trilogy before this one as it is a spin off and some plot points from the trilogy are covered in this book .Again, I enjoyed the author's take on Sawyer s journey and found the story very engaging in terms of his journey.Although BDSM is not my personal thing I appreciated it was told considering the mental aspects rather than just the physical.I look forward to reading further novels from this writer.
Good read, especially as it is from the perspective of the Dom in training.
