Bleach, Vol. 51: Love Me Bitterly Loth Me Sweetly (2011) - Plot & Excerpts

Ichigo has to train more (as per my last review, every Bleach story arc is the same, a little bit of plot to introduce the new villain and friends, endless training battle scenes, a little more plot then the actual endless battle). So Ichigo is back in Riruka’s dollhouse this time with Jackie whose fullbring is to dress like a street walker…no, wait, thigh-high boots that get stronger as they get bloody and dirty. In the meantime Chad and Orihime are discussing Tsukishima and the possibility that he was also the one to attack Ishida. For his part Tsukishima is making enigmatic comments about already ‘marking’ Orihime when he stabbed her (leaving the reader to wonder what that means since unlike Uryu, she’s not injured). While Ichigo’s fullbring metamorphoses into something new, much to Jackie’s worry, Chad and Ginjo discuss Tsukishima, and his murderous past, as well only to have the man appear. Naturally a battle appears and Ichigo has to get all up in it even though Chad and Ginjo don’t want him involved and the fact that he’s hurt. The fall out of this is Ginjo feels he has to step up Ichigo’s training before Tsukishima gets a chance to kill him. We get to see Yukio’s fullbring (which is cool). Chad goes to get Orihime to help heal Ichigo (after she’s spoken to and healed Ishida). Of course Chad is keeping secrets about his encounter with Tsukishima and in the back ground we have Urahara and Ichigo’s father plotting something that no doubt will impact Ichigo (possibly negatively in regards to him regaining his powers) with the help of a Soul Reaper (we don’t know who yet. All we see is ankles). And it ends mid-training.This at least kept interjecting plot into the action and I appreciated that. I’m almost appreciating Orihime. She went from ditzy ‘Hentai boobs of doom’ girl to someone who has trained and matured in her abilities. She’s sort of the opposite of Rukia who went from strong down to a mere whisper on her way to being forgotten. We start this volume with Ichigo in an aquarium with Jackie Tristan. Ichigo holds his own against her dirty boots and even gets the best of her. However, his deputy badge starts to get out of control. His Fullbring engulfs him and we get to see him in familiar garb. Chad and Ginjo are discussing Tsukishima and his powers. Suddenly, Tsukishima arrives and cuts the aquarium open. And here we have a healthy battle. Ichigo discovers ago Tsukishima is and attacks him but Ginjo stops the fight and takes over. As things are progressing, Yukio 'saves' Ichigo in his portable game player and the fight is over.Orihime then goes to the hospital to heal Uryû and we find out more conflicting information about Tsukishima and his powers. Ichigo is released from the handheld game and then reloaded into it with Ginji- he is the next battle in the quest to strengthen Ichigo. Orihime is brought into the game too so that she can keep Ichigo alive. She skirmishes with Ginji at one point and we see that she and Chad have really increased their powers. Chad has entered a side part of the game and is also fighting to increase his power. What everyone doesn't know is that Tsukishima also stabbed him but it didn't leave a mark. Some seriously strange stuff is going on. We end this volume with Ginji blinding Ichigo in order to push him in his fighting.2 things worth noting: First, Orihime and a donut scene...so stinkin cute!! I read it over and over again! Second, it looks like a Soul Reaper has made an appearance. Ichigo's dad and Urahara are up to something and it included a mysterious figure. I'm dying with anticipation!!
