Cyrus is described as independent and damaged...and that is why I probably both loved and hated him at the same time...he reminded me of all the boys I loved and lost in my youth. I have been there and done that with guys just like Cyrus...and I felt such empathy for Tara, his little "birdie", because I knew exactly what she was going through, falling for a guy who keeps repeating the same thing over and over again..."three times in and out, no attachments" etc. etc. and yet refusing to believe it. I think all of the Steel men are stubborn and wild and vulgar but each has a little something different in their make-up that shows a softer human side. So far, both Jase and Cyrus have fallen for sweet, troubled girls who exhibited extreme patience and understanding for them and their quirks...and so far I am really digging this series more and more. My only criticism is the repetitiveness of some of the dialogue and the constant back and forth with emotions (sometimes too many tears and angry boys gets old) but for the most part I really have enjoyed reading about how these tough guys are being whipped by these gentle women =)**** 4 **** "little birdie has flown from her cage" stars I thought I loved Jase, but then I met his brother Cyrus and I was a goner! I absolutely loved this book and could not put it down! Cyrus has one rule with his women, three times and he's done.. he doesn't want strings attached and thinks he's not good enough for a relationship. When Tara (aka "Birdie") ends up in his life, something about her makes him want to protect her, and take care of her.Tara is mixed up in some pretty horrible crap and when her boyfriend catches her talking to Cyrus, he goes crazy! Cyrus finds out and goes to get her out of the life she is living, only for her to run away on him. I knew the minute he went looking for her, that as much as a he didn't want to admit it, he definitely felt something for this girl.I loved how their "Friendship" evolved and how much we got to see Tara grow in this book. At first I thought she was a naive little girl, and maybe she was, but through out the book she really grew and became a strong woman knowing what she wants out of life. I felt for her on so many levels and was happy to see her get a HEA!Cyrus and Tara do not have a relationship is easy, and everyone but Cyrus can see how he feels about Tara, but I loved that up until the end you really did not know if this was going to work for these two. It was funny to see him finally get some sense knocked into him. I love these men in this series and can't wait to see what the other brothers have in store for us. Cyrus is a stand alone, but I recommend reading Jase first so you can meet him and Carly, as they do make appearances in this book. I am quickly falling in love with M.J. Fields' books and will be putting her on my "Must Read" list for anything she releases.
