Pretty good start to the final trilogy for all of Midkemia. I can't say very much without giving it away, but some pieces I thought were underused are now brought to the forefront in this novel.I somehow thought that it would be better written, but still, it pulled me along and I will be reading the next two quite happily.AND, I picked up the original Magician novel for a song while on holiday and I'm looking forward to that as well.Oh! I found a couple of typos in this one, the word "calvary" was in place of "cavalry", which was quite funny, since I just saw a movie with the same title. I've noticed a few as I've read through the last 10 novels. A kingdom besieged was my first Feist novel. Now, I can certainly see his appeal, there is obvious plot work, well developed characters and a plethora of cultures. However, it is also clear that this world and essential story line of "impending doom" is well used in his other novels. Having never read any of his other material, you could tell that this book had essentially been written before and that the world setting had been near exhausted. This book definitely keeps you reading, and is quite interesting and engaging at times, but I would search out some of his earlier novels before moving on to A Kingdom Besieged.
What do You think about Het Bedreigde Koninkrijk (2011)?
Nice read. Unexpected return of many old characters for the series finale.
