Magician's End (2013) - Plot & Excerpts

Some people thought this was so-so, but I think it was above average for his later works, and enjoyable as a long time fan. My only gripes are some of the dialogue seemed a little too casual, a few too many references to characters dead for 100 years, and some heavy handedness about a certain relationship that was obviously going to work out in the end. Still doesn't touch the original four books, but a good end to a long series. I was disappointed in how this fantastic series ended. That is, I am happy with how the plot was resolved, but the writing of this last series was sloppy. This has been happening since the Demonwar Saga, and it comes down to poor editing. With the resources at Feist's disposal, I would expect better. That is, unless he was being forced by his publishers to rush them out. That was the sense that I got.At least each of the previous series could be read as a standalone series; not this one. It relied heavily on the assumption that I read (which I did) and remembered (which I did not necessarily do) each of the previous books and all the characters in them, as Feist seemed to be on a farewell tour to all his characters. I struggled to recall all the people referred to throughout this book, and this annoyed me ...Too much political intrigue, too much reminiscence, and too pedestrian a narrative. Two stars.

What do You think about Magician's End (2013)?

I have it :) Now I need to wait for the first two to come in from my order. Pug is back!!!

So sad to see this tremendously long-running series finally ending. I'll miss Pug.

Got a bit long winded and maybe over complicated but still overall pretty awesome.
