Skippyjon Jones, one of Gabby's favorites! Promotes reading by illustrating all the things you can become by using your imagination to read. When going to the library with students, read this short picture book to get them thinking about what books they want to check out. By seeing what SkippyJon Jones experiences while reading, children can choose what topics they want to see in the books that they read/find at the library. Really there isn't a story here, more a collection of things that Skippyjon is: "I am a great sword fighter. I am a deep-sea diver. I am a dinosaur tamer with a loud bark-ito." The point being (which we find out at the end) that you can be whatever you want, and go wherever you want, just by opening a book. So, that's a sweet message and a fun way of describing it.It's nothing super original, and I was a little confused by the on-again/off-again rhyming. But, the illustrations are just so gosh darn cute that I kind of have to love the book just for those.
What do You think about I Am Skippyjon Jones (2010)?
Skippyjon Jones is a chihuahua. The book is about his advertures. Has some good rhyming.
