Skippy Jon Jones Lost In Spice Scholastic Paperback (2000) - Plot & Excerpts
Volume 5 of this wonderful series takes us on a trip to Mars with Skippyjon and his chihuahua friends, where they get trapped and play a massive game of tug-of-monkey. I just realized that Skippyjon's real name is Pinky Pie. That doesn't suit him at all.------------------------- I read this on We Give Books (wegivebooks.org), where they donate books to schools when you read books on their site. During the summer we (granddaughter and I, or rather I to granddaughter) read this book at least twice every single weekend, and sometimes twice during the week - depending on how many days she spent at our house. This was THE favorite book of the summer. She enjoys all the SkippyJon Jones books, but this was THE ONE we read every single weekend without fail. :)We love his imagination, all the little poochos (stuffed animals) and how they turn into the Chimichangas (a gang of little chihuahuas). We especially enjoyed the huge mess SkippyJon made with his mama's red spice, turning his bedroom into the planet Mars. One of our favorite parts of all the books are the little songs that Skippy (Skippito) sings. We rap it out with claps and a rhythym - it's fun, and a part of the book that my granddaughter looks forward to. Adds to the whole reading experience when you can laugh and clap and get into reading a book with a child or children. We definitely want more of SkippyJon Jones and his Spanglish.
