Promise Bound (2014) - Plot & Excerpts

Final book of the series. I was ok with the wrap-up, but it seemed a little rushed to me. At 75% I was sure there had to be a book 4 because there was just way too much to resolve, but at 85%, I resigned myself to the fact that this was it whether I like it or not. The central plot was resolved, but it's the side stories that left me hanging a little bit. Lily's mom; Sophie; Pavati,Daniel,Adrian; Maris; Calder's mom; Gabby.....I still have so many questions! An additional novella would be an excellent idea, in my opinion. In this final book the Lies Beneath Trilogy Lily starts to have identity issues and is changing. Calder fears maybe she is getting the mermaid qualities he hoped she would never have. Lily however starts having dreams of Nalia since she started wearing her necklace. She has been barely sleeping. When she tells Calder he brushes Lily off as dreaming of things she has been told.Lily knows Nalia has come to her for a reason but becomes frustrated that Nalia is taking her time in directing her. lily soon discovers Nalia made a promise to Calder's birth mother to return Calder to her before she died. A mermaid's promise is binding and Nalia can not be at peace until her promise is fulfilled.Maris and Pavati return and are both hungry for power. I loved the fact that the author gave us multiple POV's This finale book. I found Nalia's story to be interesting. Calder discovers that just because he is a merman that does not mean he has to give into his animal instincts. Lily really losses herself with Calder gone. Maris and Pavati are sure to take advantage. This was not a fairy tale ending but I loved it for that reason. This book sums up and finalizes what need to be finished but like life things are not always perfect. I am giving this book 4 out of 5 stars.
