"I liked it."Awright, well, the first half of this book is terrible and it loses a lot from Josef and everything relating to Josef being just the worst BUT I really enjoyed the mainplot stuff in it, Nara was a great villain, the war bits weren't nearly as terrible as I imagined, there was only ONE big stupid 50 page sword fight and the ending was pretty hardcore. There's some weird gender shit in this one though and also, like, I think the book is supposed to want me to agree with Etmon and Miranda in that Sara's willingness to live in the real fucking world instead of an ideological dreamland makes her bad and I like Sara WAY more than either of those clowns at this point >_> 4.5 stars This book takes a very different tone than the previous lighter books in the serious as we seriously begin to see beneath the skin of the characters. The shift was difficult at first, and it started off a slow read but really built momentum to one hell of a big finish. I did NOT see that ending coming! I'll be moving on to the next book pretty darned quick now, let me tell you! Well played, Rachel Aaron!
What do You think about The Spirit War (2012)?
Best of the series to date, author really knows how to ramp up a series. Great read.
