I absolutely loved this book! This is such a terrific series with extremely well-written, enjoyable characters that get you learn more about with each book. Eli is my favorite of course, but Miranda and all the other supporting characters from human to spirits are so interesting and I want to know more about them all. I love the idea of everything having it's own spirit and personality, which makes it even more fun when Eli sweet talks them into doing whatever he wants them to. Of course in this story, Eli enters a kingdom where the spirits will not listen, which creates all kinds of trouble when he is captured. But Eli would not be the greatest thief ever if he allowed that to stop him. The world-building by the author is also very detailed and logically put together, so it makes you feel as though you are actually visiting a place that really exists. Of course there are still a lot of unanswered questions, but I'm sure that these will be explained in the last three books in the series. I started the series on a whim, and I'm so glad that I did because now I am hooked and will be continuing immediately with the next. The second book in the series and things are churning along nicely. The main characters remain very enjoyable and it was interesting to see Eli demonstrating strengths other than the ones he displayed in the first book. Miranda, Josef and Nico also receive a pleasing amount of character development and the mysteries of Eli's past are beginning to be hinted at more strongly.Once more the pacing is good with the book building to a dramatic and highly satisfying climax.
