Overall, I've enjoyed this series, though I think that there were a few issues with the ending. It's mostly a matter of keeping multiple storylines going throughout the series, but then trying to wrap them all up too quickly. The resolution of each of the storylines just seemed a bit rushed to me. Overall I liked the series, and it did seem to be a little bit less formulaic than the first trilogy. Nothing groundbreaking, but enjoyable. To me this book was a real let down, it felt like the story was jut written to get it over with. There isn't much character development, and I found the death of Cery both un-dramatic and pointless. The story just keeps trudging along at a slow pace, and for such a large book, I would have expected more development, it just feels like the long interlude between the previous book in the trilogy and the next probabley trilogy about the story of theses characters. My copy was also filled with typos and missing words (up to three a chapter), I'm not sure who should be blamed for this, but it increased my feeling that this book was just written because it had to be; without much precision or need to develop the storyline. This is just my opinion, and a pity I disliked it so as I've been a long fan of the author, but I would not recommend this trilogy as a good read.
What do You think about The Traitor Queen (2012)?
Sad to say goodbye to these characters, but happy with the resolution for most of them.

Really good series. Wish it ended with a bit more character interaction.
