Sonea - Die Hüterin (2010) - Plot & Excerpts

Slow and boring. (I read the Danish edtion of this book)It was so slow and I felt like nothing exciting happende, all they ever did was talking. I don't min talking in a book, but then there has to be something that connect the different talks and some exciting and interesting subjects. I had to tell myself to read it, and whenever I put it down I would be slow in getting the book back again. I've read two other series by Trudi Canavan - The Magician's Apprentice triology and The Black Magician triology which I liked (The Magician's Apprentice is best). But this one just dragged me slowly through the story and for me it was hard to find the plot, for me it was a lot of seperate things going on with little to no connection to each other. It was only very near the end, the book started to get exciting and when there was some references to Trudi's other works. I like it when there's references to the author's other works. And now I don't know if I want to continue the serie or not. I really loved The Black Magician trilogy and was excited to read this new series featuring the same characters. But I was so disappointed! Maybe the other two books in the trilogy will be better, but this was a very unexciting opening. 505 pages of waffle that could probably have been condensed down into about 200 pages. The book basically follows two storylines and four characters: Sonea and Cery hunting for a rogue magician in Imardin and Sonea's son Lorkin running off with a bunch of women in Sachaka while Ambassador Dannyl wanders behind in pursuit. Neither story is particularly interesting. The rogue magician, after plenty of discussion, is actually apprehended pretty easily and the huge secret of her identity was actually rather obvious to work out. The threat of the Traitors was interesting for a couple of seconds, until it became clear that Lorkin wasn't being kidnapped. He was merely entranced by a pretty woman and thinking with his dick instead of his brain. The characters I enjoyed in The Black Magician trilogy have been watered down and turned into mere shadows of their former selves. Sonea is practically a prisoner within the Guild and if there is one more mention of Cery being old in the next book I may throw it on the floor in anger. Seriously, he must be about 40 yet moans and bitches as if he were 65!In short, don't bother. Even if you enjoyed Ms Canavan's earlier works. This book did not need writing and the only reason I struggled through it was because it had her name on the cover and I hoped (still do!) that the series will improve.

What do You think about Sonea - Die Hüterin (2010)?

Książka duzo gorsza niż pierwsza seria. Tempo słabe, postacie nieskomplikowane.
