All The Sky (2014) - Plot & Excerpts

All the Sky (Signal Bend #5)By: Susan Fanetti5/5 starsJoe “Havoc” Mariano has long believed that women caused nothing but ruin and destruction, and that he only wants chicks on a “take-out” basis. He has no other use for them than what they can do for him sexually or doing the cooking, cleaning, and laundry at the clubhouse. The only women that he has time in his life for are his mother and younger sister. Otherwise he thinks that all the club problems in the last four years all started when Lilli came to town and Isaac made her his old lady. For him, he only takes club girls, because they know the score.Corinne “Cory” Hawes is a single mother to Nolan, her 15-year old son. She’s always been the dreamer, artsy type who has had problems holding down a full-time job in the past. But things start looking up for her when she starts working at the wine bar, Valhalla Vin in Signal Bend. Not only is the money good for her, but the move is great for her and her son.Havoc has been getting restless the last couple years since the Night Horde MC has been on the right side of the law. On top of blaming the women who are attached to the men of the Horde, he also blames the changing town. Tuck’s bar is back to being for locals only because of the frequent brawls. But after Vic and C.J.’s betrayals, Havoc is now in charge of the wine bar, and appropriately so since it was essentially his idea. While there he meets Cory. And he doesn’t know what is wrong, but he just can’t get her out of his head which makes him feel confused.Cory is tired of a$$hole men and she just doesn’t deal with them anymore, especially after everything that her ex-husband put her through and since she also has to look out for her son’s best interests. But that doesn’t mean that she doesn’t notice Havoc and how hot and sexually tantalizing he is. But every time he opens his mouth, she knows that she wants to avoid him. Isaac & Lilli and Show & Shannon also take a noticeable stage in this book. Which I really liked because I love revisiting these characters. I hated seeing Isaac’s injuries from book 4, Alone on Earth and the novella 4.5, In Dark Woods. I was glad to see him back, and with their son Bo. I also liked the advice that Show gave Havoc when he was having dark days. When the club votes on a new money maker that takes them outside of the law again, they don’t who exactly they are working for and when it does come out, they realize that some demons have come back from the past to haunt them and that they may be getting in over their heads, especially when the club has lost so much and several men have so much to lose in the form of their families & wives. There are some very sad parts in this book and I’m looking forward to see where the author is going with this plot.I loved to see how far Havoc has come since his earlier days and am looking forward to Len’s story which is coming up in book 6, Show the Fire. Havoc and Cory. I loved how they both didn't like each other at first. How they eventually became physically attracted to one another and it continued to evolve from there. I loved that this wasn't insta love at first sight or whatever. Those drive me crazy most of the time. I loved that Nolan - Cory's son was very much a part of this story and not an after thought. I do wonder if Havoc ever told Cory and/or Nolan who was responsible for Nolan's accident. I know the Horde took care of the responsible party, but it never really talks about if he at least told her they found him and "justice was served", or if she's still left wondering who did it.
