Signal Bend is supposedly a "light MC" series, but beware sh*t gets dark in the second installment. Typically, the darker stuff is hard to read, but I do appreciate it because it makes you think.Like with the first book, I expected the badass female lead to save herself and the rest of the chauvinistic MC men, but it didn't happen. Don't get me wrong, stories about the strength to pick yourself up and move on after traumatic events are always great. I can't really explain it without spoilers, but I guess the best way to express it is I just expected a strong female lead to be even stronger. Maybe it's just the writing style that gave me that issue, because I've read other stories where badass women get hurt and yet you see their strength through their struggles to move forward with their lives. It was so heartbreaking how all because of one mans' greed, a courageous woman's spirit was so utterly broken...Lilli went from being such a strong willed woman to a shell of her former self all because of Lawrence Ellis! Man that guy was just disgusting, the horrible things he did to good people, to Lilli, to Show's family...OMG...this book just had me crying all over the place! So many innocent lives taken...for what? This is a very emotional book, ugly things happen to good people in this book and even though the residents of Signal Bend take a stand together to save their town, you can't help but feel all that loss...Its a little weird how Hollywood wants to make a movie of the events, you don't really equate that with an MC book, but we'll how that game plays out in the next books...
What do You think about Behold The Stars (2013)?
I am loving this series so far. Definitely one of my favourite MC series.
