Joel Rosenberg captures the true Essence of the Middle East conflict in Damascus Countdown. All sides of the conflict are depicted as The twelfth Imam orders the annialation of Israel. David Shirazi, undercover with the CIA is given the task of finding two nuclear warheads after Israel destroys the other six. Risking his life for peace, he embarks on a journey following one clue after the other until he ends up at death,s door. Rosenberg does a good job of bringing us up to date with the characters in this sequel of modern day prophecy. Great plausible story. This is the third and final book in the series. I was intrigued enough by the characters and events that I wanted to read the third book. This was a light/easy read, but it was entertaining. Some parts seemed unrealistic, but overall it was a fun and held my attention. While I was reading the book, I was also reading headlines in the paper about the middle east. I found myself inserting situations from the book into the headlines. I had to remind myself a few times that the headlines were what was happening in the world and the book was a work of fiction.

Has some corny parts but I like action and suspense which this has.
